Enjoy Minneapolis in vacation home rentals
You might think you'll get two cities for the price of one when booking your Minneapolis vacation rentals, but you'll soon find that one is more than enough. These days, Minneapolis has the edge over its 'twin' St. Paul. If you want culture, you'll be swimming deep in the City of Lakes. Its arts have more bite, its theatre more cut, and its skyline more height. Minneapolis also shops to the extreme with enormous Mall of America, and it plays hard too: think Nickelodeon Universe. Wrap it all in a warm dose of 'Minnesota Nice' and you have city break heaven.
What's to see in Minneapolis?
Lavishly decked out with lakes, parks and rivers, Minneapolis has always been a visual treat, but the last couple of decades have seen bolder cultural styling in the city. The cobalt-mirror work of the Guthrie Theater hosts a mix of block-busters and contemporary performances. Then there's the stippled silverwork of the Walker Art Center, where you can challenge your inner artist. Or marvel at the famed Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture. Old school delights include the Minnehaha Falls, inspiration for the Song of Hiawatha, or the ruin-turned-museum of Mill City.
Things to do near Minneapolis vacation homes
A day in Minnesota can start pretty chilled. The banks of the Mississippi are an open green thoroughfare, perfect for strolling. Here, you're never far from a riverside café and lunch begs to be done Scandi-style with family picnicking in the open by a lakeshore (and there are plenty of those!). Unless, of course, its winter when it’ll be the restaurants of the famed Skyway that call you. Minnesota does urban well, with clubs to break beats in or theaters to pluck souls. But don't fret if it's late—there are plenty of Minneapolis vacation rentals to be your base to crash in.
Winter's coming in Minneapolis
The locals may be somewhat easy-going in Minneapolis, but the weather certainly isn't. This city constantly reminds you what season it is. In summer, the sun smiles often in the City of Lakes but it can get hot and humid so head for the breezes of the river bank or lakeshore to cool off. Winters, on the other hand, can be hard, but Minneapolis is prepared. Get yourself cozy and warm by shopping in the heated walkways of the Skyway—or by tucking yourself up in one of the Minneapolis vacation rentals.
Making Minneapolis wild again
Despite being a sprawling city, Minneapolis has much to interest lovers of the wilds. There's the mighty Mississippi passing right through its heart, famed for its fabulous falls and splashing river otters. There are more lakes in the city than you can shake a corn cob at, and are home to a myriad of birds. And don't forget the magnificent Minneapolis Zoo: A real treat for those coming to Minneapolis with family. This groundbreaking zoo includes clever trails that recreate tropical and arctic climes while also showcasing local wildlife.
